Comments Turkey vultures, seen mainly flying in this area, are quite common from spring to fall around the coast of West Vancouver, the southern Gulf Islands, and near the North Shore mountains. Seen from below, they are easy to distinguish from eagles by the distinctive black Y from the underwing and extending down the body. From above, they have dihedral wing patterns and rock gently as they fly.
