Introduction

The Golden Snowflea, Onychiurus cocklei (Folsom), "is the most famous B.C. springtail -- otherwise known as the Golden Snowflea, it swarms on the snow in masses of yellow. It was first collected by J.W. Cockle of Kaslo, B.C., a hotelier and dynamic amateur entomologist who flourished in the late 1800s and early 1900s." (Cannings and Scudder 2005).
